Opportunity Overview: This position offers a remarkable chance to advance your research career within a dynamic translational research program that integrates both scientific and clinical expertise. The successful candidates will be expected to pursue a higher research degree.

Research Focus: You will engage in a multidisciplinary research initiative aimed at exploring volatile biomarkers in oncology, with the goal of developing breath tests for disease diagnosis and monitoring therapeutic responses. The research will encompass clinical trials, organoid studies, microbiome analysis, and the application of various mass spectrometry techniques, collaborating with scientists from Imperial College and other academic institutions.

Commitment and Responsibilities:

  • Dedicate your efforts to Imperial College London to conduct research leading to a higher research degree (MD(Res), PhD).
  • Maintain current qualifications in Advanced Life Support (ALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable.
  • Provide consistent resident medical officer support to a designated hospital on a scheduled basis.
  • Deliver urgent clinical assistance for patients in response to requests from admitting consultants or registered nursing staff.
  • Uphold punctuality, high clinical standards, and provide a six-week notice for any upcoming study or annual leave.
  • Communicate with departmental administration regarding any duties that may be outside your qualifications or deemed inappropriate.
  • Submit a three-month notice period if you decide to resign from the position.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a degree in Medicine or an equivalent qualification.
  • Hold full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Have MRCS/MRCP or an equivalent qualification.
  • Complete Advanced Life Support training.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in research.
  • Achieve ST3+ level in General Surgery or General Medicine.
  • Exhibit proven experience in an acute hospital environment.
