Job Title:

Senior Policy Analyst, Europe Programme and Future of Development Agencies

The Center for Global Development (CGD) is a leading international development think tank seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Associate to join its Europe Programme and contribute to its work on the Future of Development Agencies.

Job Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to conduct high-quality, policy-relevant research on European development cooperation and finance, with a focus on improving policy and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Desk-Based Research:
  2. Undertake primary research and interviews with experts in the field, under the direction of the CGD Europe Managing Director and Senior Policy Fellow.
  3. Identify Research Opportunities:
  4. Identify areas for potential research and analysis to improve international development policy.
  5. Communicate Research Findings:
  6. Write blogs, policy papers, and articles for policymakers, either independently or in collaboration with senior colleagues.
  7. Manage Research Partners:
  8. Manage research partners, reviewing and providing quality assurance of their work.
  9. Build Partnerships:
  10. Build and maintain relationships with key partners, including scholars, policymakers, and funders, and develop relevant partnerships to amplify the work of the programme.
  11. Represent CGD:
  12. Represent CGD through participation in conferences, private meetings, and other public events.
  13. Mentor Junior Staff:
  14. Mentor and share responsibility for the professional development of junior research staff.

Requirements:

  1. Education:
  2. A master's, PhD, or equivalent in economics, political science, or a related field.
  3. Experience:
  4. At least 6 years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research/policy analysis in relevant areas.
  5. Skills:
  6. Outstanding writing, verbal communication, and data analytics skills.
  7. Teamwork:
  8. Proven ability to be a flexible team player and manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
