Job Description

Job Title: Policy and Community Planning Officer

Job Summary:

Vox Network Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Policy and Community Planning Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing discrete research and policy development projects, including the management of consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of evidence base research to support the development of planning policy and contribute to making data and analyses widely accessible and approachably presented.
  • Network, consult, and liaise with other Council staff and organizations to seek alignment of Planning Policy with other Council policies.
  • Monitor the emergence of new policy and programme initiatives by central Government and the Mayor for London, and advise on these initiatives as needed.
  • Manage the preparation of planning policy and contribute to the development of planning policy documents.
  • Ensure the observance of local and statutory procedures and good administrative practice in relation to the preparation and implementation of planning policy.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of current Town and Country planning, practice, procedures, and legislation in one or more areas, within planning, enforcement, policy, or development management.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative in organizing workload and establishing priorities for action, and to carry out the necessary work to the required quality within given deadlines in a busy working environment.
  • Experience of delivering major policy documents to agreed timetables and in line with agreed standards.
  • Experience working with a council or housing association.
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders to achieve improvements to the quality and outcome of planning policies and to secure stakeholder support.
  • Ability to present information, verbally and in writing, on planning policy matters in a manner that clearly demonstrates a thorough, structured, logical, and orderly approach.

Contract Details:

  • Initial 6-month contract with the opportunity to extend.
  • Pay negotiable depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (Hybrid).
