About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Research Manager to join our team at Reed in Partnership. As a key member of our business development team, you will play a crucial role in developing policy and research work across a wide range of public service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy and Research Development: Develop and implement policy and research work to inform and influence policy makers, build our reputation, and improve our services.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with sector experts, membership bodies, think tanks, and government at all levels.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to support our policy and public affairs influencing, including drafting select committee or government consultation responses.
  • Project Management: Lead or take part in cross-team projects that focus on driving both policy and practical change on topics of importance to the people we serve.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the wider business development team by providing research input and policy insight into specific bids for new services.
Requirements
  • Essential Criteria
    • Demonstratable knowledge of and enthusiasm for public policy, particularly public services.
    • Excellent analysis and research skills.
    • Experience of working in a policy, government, public affairs, or research role and an understanding of how central, regional, or local government works.
    • Ability to think flexibly and creatively to analyze and devise policy solutions that work in practice.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with people at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
    • Excellent project and time management skills.
    • Great writing skills and experience of writing for publication and for different audiences.
    • Able to present complex information verbally in a clear and engaging way.
    • Happy working in a fast-paced business environment with a need to manage competing priorities.
    • Able to quickly get up to speed with new topics or sectors.
    • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Relevant graduate-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable Criteria
    • In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following topics: labour market/employment, health or disability, environment, skills or assessment, devolution, careers advice, or justice.
    • Strong research skills in a particular area, e.g., co-production of research with participants, working with large datasets, data visualization, etc.
