Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Probation Service Officer to join our Public Protection Team in Greater Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Offender Management in Custody (OMiC) model and Pre-Release teams for both unconvicted and sentenced individuals in prison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete Basic Custody Screening Assessments to identify the immediate resettlement needs of individuals in prison.
  • Attend and complete pre-release plans and referrals made by Resettlement Boards in prison establishments.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and support with Community Probation Practitioners to complete relevant referrals for cases being released from any prison establishment.
  • Attend the link Probation Delivery Unit weekly to support with Pre-Release Resettlement Planning and maintain an ongoing interface remotely.
  • Utilize computer-based systems to produce, update, and maintain records and other documentation.
  • Engage in effective communication with staff and partner agencies.
  • Provide cover in teams as required.
Assessment Centre

Candidates will participate in an assessment centre, which will include interview questions and a presentation. This will provide an opportunity for us to assess your skills, knowledge, and experience in relation to the role.

Job Requirements
  • Assess and manage the risk posed by offenders to protect victims of crime and the general public.
  • Liaise with criminal courts, criminal justice agencies, and other partner agencies to provide information and advice.
  • Supervise and manage the risk of those offenders subject to community sentences, during and after custodial sentences.
  • Work with other agencies and groups to prevent crime and meet the needs of victims and offenders.
