Candidates must possess a Community Practice Teacher/Educator qualification (or equivalent) and be a registered SCPHN Health Visitor with substantial experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Education Specialist will oversee the recruitment, instruction, and evaluation of student SCPHN Health Visitors while also nurturing and developing the Health Visiting Workforce. This role includes managing a caseload of families and implementing the healthy child programme alongside educational responsibilities.

The Clinical Education Specialist will assist in policy formulation and conduct clinical audits, providing feedback on audit results to the workforce.

This position involves designing training programs for student health visitors and the broader health visitor workforce, including training for student health visitors, preceptorship initiatives, healthy child practitioners, community nursery nurses, and health visitors.

The Clinical Education Specialist will assess learning needs within the workforce and support initiatives to address these educational requirements.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse with a Degree/Diploma in Health Visiting.
  • Evidence of ongoing Professional Development.
  • Nurse prescriber certification.
  • A recognized teaching/assessing qualification.
  • A Community Practice Teacher/Educator Qualification.

Desirable

  • Leadership qualifications or experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of the knowledge and skills required for the development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs.
  • Familiarity with current legislation regarding Child Protection and its practical implications.
  • Awareness of National and Local policies concerning Primary Care.
  • Understanding the needs of diverse and underserved communities.
  • Experience in utilizing Public Health approaches and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience in health visiting.

Desirable

  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience working with post-registration students.
  • Willingness to contribute to service development, including guidelines and policy formulation.
  • Experience in clinical supervision and facilitation of supervision (or willingness to undertake training).
