York, York City, United Kingdom York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the maxillofacial and plastic surgery departments within the Clinical Directorate. The Advanced Surgical Practitioner (ASP) will provide essential support to the surgical consultants and will operate in various settings including hospital wards, operating theatres, and outpatient clinics.

In conjunction with the Consultant mentor and Matron, the ASP is accountable for delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care while offering specialized knowledge, assistance, and support to nursing staff and junior medical personnel in the realm of maxillofacial and plastic surgery.

The ASP will be enrolled in a comprehensive Surgical Care Practitioner program at a recognized institution following their appointment. This program will be financed by the Directorate and will encompass a three-year distance-learning curriculum (including eight weeks of residential training and 2,200 clinical hours) culminating in a Master's Degree. Throughout this period, the ASP will be paired with a Consultant mentor and will receive on-the-job training.

Upon successful completion of the degree, the ASP will advance to a higher pay scale, with a commitment to remain with the organization for a minimum of two years to qualify for the funded program. Should the ASP fail to complete the program or depart from the organization within two years post-completion, they will be required to reimburse a portion of the program costs as stipulated in a Learning Contract.
