We are looking for a committed Recovery Support Specialist to become part of our dedicated team.

The specialist will manage cases transitioning from structured treatment to recovery support, focusing on enhancing recovery resources and minimizing recurrences while expanding group offerings alongside our existing Recovery Teams.

This role will collaborate with the BRIC (Building Recovery In Community) lead to create a series of events and activities aimed at promoting health and wellness, employment, and training, including essential life skills such as nutrition and increasing access to physical activities and sports.

Location: Waltham Forest, London

Work Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Compensation: £27, £31,529.41 based on experience

Additional Allowance: Outer London Weighting pro rata

Key Responsibilities:

The specialist will play a crucial role in developing and expanding a recovery community and peer support network, including treatment, to ensure long-term recovery, enhance the visibility of recovery, and facilitate social integration. This may involve:

  • Peer-based recovery support services
  • Recovery community centers
  • Recovery support services in educational environments
  • Facilitating access to mutual aid
  • Long-term recovery management, including recovery check-ups

Role Expectations:

  • Assist individuals in building recovery resources and connecting with peer and mutual support groups to enhance their recovery capital
  • Oversee aftercare coordination for assigned groups of service users
  • Support the establishment of service-based recovery communities
  • Conduct triage assessments and refer to various treatment/community support agencies
  • Perform risk assessments and manage risks
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users, including mapping community resources and developing personalized recovery plans
  • Collaborate with prescribing clinicians to support substitute prescribing strategies to enhance social functioning
  • Assist in executing appropriate screening processes, including DBST, urine, and saliva tests, after completing necessary training or demonstrating relevant experience
  • Implement key harm reduction strategies, such as managing the Needle Exchange and distributing Naloxone, after completing necessary training or demonstrating relevant experience

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of substance use issues and experience in a related field
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with a high level of personal IT proficiency
  • Ability to accurately maintain records in a timely manner and meet deadlines for information submission and reporting
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Good knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices
  • Capability to collaborate and engage with a diverse range of professionals and organizations
