The remuneration for this permanent Recovery Support Specialist position ranges from £25,154 to £30,742 annually.

Main Responsibilities:

Case Management:

Oversee a varied caseload of adult male prison leavers and individuals on community orders within the Probation services, assisting them in executing their action plans and navigating their recovery paths.


Trust Building and Continuity:
Foster trust and provide consistent support, ensuring smooth navigation through the recovery process, including directing clients to suitable services.

Thorough Assessments:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' needs and develop collaborative action plans tailored to their recovery objectives.

Service Provision:
Facilitate structured one-on-one sessions, group activities, and virtual meetings, maintaining precise records throughout the process.

Multi-Faceted Support:

Offer a variety of support and interventions across all levels of complexity, demonstrating adaptability and resilience to meet evolving demands.


Enhanced Treatment Access:

Provide services that improve access to treatment, offering additional support and guidance for individuals whose substance use disorders coincide with other mental health challenges and complex needs.


Subject Matter Expertise:

Some Recovery Support Specialists will have the chance to become subject matter experts (SMEs) in specific vulnerable groups (e.g., BAME) or needs (e.g., chemsex), delivering specialized support to colleagues across the team.


Collaboration with Existing Services:

Ensure access to and sustained engagement with statutory and existing provisions, fostering motivation, providing practical assistance, and ongoing support to achieve controlled dependent behavior or abstinence, aiming to reduce re-offending.


Target Compliance:
Achieve the targets set by Forward and local commissioners, maintaining cooperative relationships with partner agencies and probation staff.

Qualifications for the Recovery Support Specialist:
- Level 3 substance misuse-related qualification or equivalent experience in substance misuse services or a comparable role.
- Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice sector.
- Extensive experience in the substance misuse field or a related area.
- Proven experience managing high caseloads, conducting risk/comprehensive assessments, developing SMART action plans, and maintaining effective case records.
- Experience delivering both one-on-one and group interventions using motivational techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience working with treatment and/or healthcare services.
