The role of a Children's Services Manager at Barnardo's is vital for the effective provision of our programs. This position requires a deep commitment to enhancing the lives of children, adolescents, and families.

We are currently seeking a temporary Children's Services Manager to oversee our Young Carers Services. In this capacity, you will guide a dedicated team focused on supporting Young Carers aged 8 to 18. The children we assist often have caregiving responsibilities at home, and our services are tailored to their unique needs and preferences. Our mission is to facilitate opportunities for them to connect with peers and engage in age-appropriate activities. A significant aspect of this role involves advocating for increased awareness of Young Carers' needs and influencing relevant policies and practices.

As a manager, you will experience a diverse range of responsibilities. Your day-to-day activities may include engaging with children and young people, collaborating with commissioners, liaising with policymakers, and working alongside educational staff, all while supporting your team to ensure that each child receives a tailored and innovative service.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria by the application deadline:

Possess a professional qualification in Social Work recognized by the NISCC Have completed the AYE and be registered with the NISCC on part 1 of the register.

Applicants should demonstrate the following experience in their application:

Proven experience in delivering services to children and young people within social care, youth work, or educational environments Demonstrated experience in managing staff who work with children and young people in similar settings A solid track record of collaborating with partner organizations, commissioners, and other stakeholders A valid driving license and access to a vehicle with business class insurance, or the ability to demonstrate how mobility requirements will be met. Experience in financial management and budgeting Familiarity with managing child protection and safeguarding issues

Work Location: The primary office base is in Magherafelt, with the possibility of working from other Barnardo's locations as needed.

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Employment Type: Fixed term until 06 July 2025

Compensation: £42,016 - £53,176 FTE
