Barnardo's, in collaboration with NHS Oxford Health Trust, is on the lookout for qualified and enthusiastic full or part-time Link Workers to become part of a newly formed service in Wiltshire. Link Workers will collaborate with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) to provide non-clinical assistance to children and young people, which includes:

  • Performing wellbeing evaluations and creating support strategies
  • Providing individual and group support for wellbeing (up to 8 sessions)
  • Facilitating social prescribing and community navigation
  • Offering support within community and educational settings
  • Delivering advice and guidance, including self-help resources

This position presents a unique chance to work as a Barnardo's employee, under an honorary NHS contract, contributing to the wellbeing of the youth in the community. Link Workers will be flexible and responsive to the needs of children and young people, providing support in various locations across Wiltshire. CAMHS offices are situated in multiple locations; successful candidates will be assigned a primary area of responsibility to minimize travel.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or qualification in a relevant discipline such as Youth Work, Psychology, Education, Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undertake Social Prescribing – Learning for Link Workers Training.

Experience:

  • Proven experience working with children, young people, and families in mental health or social care environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments, develop support plans, and advocate for vulnerable individuals.

Knowledge:

  • Awareness of child and adolescent mental health challenges, including common disorders and symptoms.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding protocols and procedures to ensure the welfare of children and young people.
  • Understanding of local community resources, mental health support services, and referral pathways.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, facilitating effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Organizational skills to efficiently manage caseloads, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in IT, including experience with relevant software for documentation and reporting.

Desirable Criteria:
