We are on the lookout for dedicated and qualified part-time Youth Support Specialists to join a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the experiences of young people in healthcare settings. This innovative program, commissioned by the Integrated Care Board, focuses on improving the experiences of youth attending emergency services and aims to minimize the necessity for such visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to provide non-clinical assistance to young individuals facing mental health challenges and wellbeing concerns.
  • Engage in co-production with youth to ensure their perspectives are integral to service development.
  • Conduct wellbeing evaluations and formulate tailored support strategies.
  • Offer one-on-one wellbeing sessions (up to six sessions).
  • Facilitate social prescribing and community navigation.
  • Provide support within community and educational settings.
  • Deliver guidance and resources, including self-help strategies.

This position presents a unique opportunity to work within a healthcare environment, contributing positively to the wellbeing of the youth in the community. Youth Support Specialists will need to be adaptable and responsive to the diverse needs of children and young people, providing assistance in various settings such as schools, homes, or community spaces.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with children, adolescents, and families in mental health or social care environments.
  • Ability to perform assessments, create support plans, and advocate for vulnerable populations.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent mental health issues, including common disorders.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding protocols to ensure the welfare of young individuals.
  • Knowledge of local resources and mental health support services.

Skills Required:

  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation efficiently.
  • Proficiency in IT, including relevant software for documentation and reporting.

Desirable Qualifications:
