Youth Trauma Support Specialist

– Barnardo's Swindon and Wiltshire Phoenix Support Service

Full-time position (part-time hours may also be considered)

Office-based in Swindon, with some home working and location-based responsibilities primarily in Wiltshire and Swindon.

Are you dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children? We are looking for a Recovery Practitioner to join our Barnardo's Phoenix Support team in Swindon and Wiltshire. This role presents a unique opportunity to assist some of the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach young individuals in our community. Our service is supported by the NHS and the Ministry of Justice.

The position will directly aid children and young people under 18 who have faced sexual violence or abuse by providing stabilization and other supportive interventions. You will collaborate with our team of expert Counsellors, engaging in both short-term and some medium-term support work.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting direct face-to-face interactions with young individuals who have experienced sexual violence or abuse.
  • Delivering one-on-one interventions aimed at promoting stabilization.
  • Offering direct consultation to parents, guardians, or professionals involved.
  • Engaging in multi-agency collaboration.

Barnardo's is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce for both staff and volunteers. We actively encourage applications from individuals with disabilities, as well as those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and male candidates, as they are currently under-represented within our organization.

A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required, as our services are delivered to residents in Swindon and Wiltshire.

Pre-employment checks will be mandatory for this role.

The salary for this position is £27,573.00, with additional amounts indicated for progression.

Please be aware that due to the high volume of applications for certain positions, this advertisement may close prior to the displayed closing date.

Pay & Reward Framework

We recognize that our colleagues go above and beyond in fulfilling our essential mission, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's. We understand that we can only achieve our goals and improve outcomes for more children through the talent, dedication, and creativity of our team.

For these reasons, we are implementing a new approach to pay and rewards to ensure it is equitable, appealing, and progressive, which was introduced in April 2023. This positive change is part of our strategy to support colleagues in feeling valued, thriving, and advancing in their careers at Barnardo's, while also providing clear pathways for career and salary progression.

While the complete pay band and salary range are advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum and mid-point of the pay band. This ensures that pay increments are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contributions to excellence and alignment with our values and behaviors. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
