Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a seasoned pharmacy technician to become a vital part of the pharmacy team within a prestigious healthcare institution. This role encompasses leadership and management of the pharmacy homecare service, with a focus on driving innovative service development initiatives. We seek a proactive and organized pharmacy technician with robust leadership capabilities to enhance the service and elevate it to new heights. You will oversee, mentor, and facilitate the professional growth of a dedicated team of pharmacy homecare administrators and pharmacy assistants. A qualification as a Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, along with substantial relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to provide operational leadership to the personnel within the Homecare and Income team, serving as a central reference point for all homecare supplies and processes within the organization. This includes coordinating homecare for specialized services such as Cystic Fibrosis, Transplantation, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, and Pediatric care. You will collaborate with specialist pharmacists, patients, and other healthcare team members, including finance, to ensure a seamless homecare service for all patients. Additionally, you will provide operational leadership for pharmacy income derived from private patients and high-cost medications excluded from the tariff.

Your primary base will be within the main hospital site, with expectations for regular visits to other affiliated sites.

You will also support the Homecare Governance Group as agreed upon.

You will be accountable for the ongoing professional development and overall performance of all staff within the Homecare and Income Team.

Your role will be pivotal in the continuous advancement of the organization as a member of the homecare and income team, and potentially as a participant in various quality and process improvement project groups.

Participation in the dispensary and involvement in the late duty, weekend, and Bank Holiday pharmacy service will also be part of your responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • BTEC or NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Science
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accredited Checking Technician Qualification

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in a hospital setting as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
  • Proven experience in staff training
  • Familiarity with pharmacy homecare services
