Pharmacy Technician Senior

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team at the Newham University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pharmacy services.
Main Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Support the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician and Lead Pharmacy Technicians in developing systems for service provision, enhancing efficiency and quality of care.
- Day-to-day line management of pharmacy support workers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure they meet their roles and responsibilities.
- Accuracy and Quality
- Undertake duties and responsibilities as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT), ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality in our pharmacy services.
- Recruitment and Training
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of pharmacy staff, contributing to the development of our team.
- Provide education and training to pharmacy support workers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Patient Care
- Provide a patient-facing service to inpatient wards, ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines and providing accurate information to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Undertake medicines reconciliation and communicate discrepancies to relevant healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Requirements- Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
- ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent.
- Experience
- Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Significant experience as a pharmacy technician.
- Medicines management experience in a ward-based setting, e.g., medication history taking, POD assessment etc.
- Pharmacy labelling and stock control systems.
- Experience of pharmacy stock distribution and top-up services.
- Education & training of staff.
- Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g., controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work.

- DBS - Enhanced check with a check of the barred lists required as patient-facing and may interact with adults/children.
