Job Title: Lead Teacher for Children with Vision Impairment

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced teacher to lead our team in providing high-quality support and advice to schools and settings in Merton. As a Lead Teacher for Children with Vision Impairment, you will be responsible for advising the Sensory Service Manager and colleagues on best practices in the education of children with visual impairments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a personal caseload of advisory and direct teaching support for children with visual impairments
  • Contribute to the development of policy and practice within the service to meet the challenges of changes at national and local level
  • Provide expert advice on specialist technologies used to remove barriers to learning for children and young people with visual impairments
  • Hold a current driver's license and have access to a car
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Mandatory Qualification in Vision Impairment (VI)
  • Experience of working with children with visual impairments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings as part of a service and multi-disciplinary team
