Job Title: Sensory Support Assistant – Vision Impairment (Bilingual) Braille

Job Overview: We are seeking a qualified and passionate Sensory Support Assistant - Braille Instructor to contribute to our mission of supporting visually impaired children and young adults. This role is vital in fostering an inclusive educational environment.

  • Salary: Unqualified Teacher Scale 6 (up to £35,000 with the Inner London Allowance)
  • Location: Tower Hamlets Sensory Support Service, London
  • Contract Type: Permanent, full-time position
  • Working Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist visually impaired children and young adults aged 0-25 in their educational journey
  • Provide Braille instruction and support across various learning environments
  • Encourage independence, inclusion, and empowerment through customized assistance

Qualifications:

  • Recognized qualification in Braille (such as UEB Online or RNIB Certificate)
  • Experience in supporting visually impaired children and young adults
  • Capability to thrive in a diverse and multicultural setting
