Job Title: Sensory Support Assistant - Vision Impairment

We are seeking a skilled and experienced teaching assistant to join our team as a Sensory Support Assistant - Vision Impairment. The ideal candidate will have a recognized Braille qualification and prior experience of successfully supporting visually impaired children and young people in a learning environment where Braille and pre-Braille are used.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to visually impaired children and young people in a variety of learning environments
  • Use Braille and pre-Braille to promote access to learning and independence
  • Work in close partnership with other specialist teams and health services to provide advice and support
  • Contribute to the development of individualized plans to promote progress and attainment
Requirements:
  • Recognized Braille qualification (e.g. UEB Online or RNIB Certificate in Contracted Unified English Braille)
  • Prior experience of supporting visually impaired children and young people in a learning environment
  • Ability to work in a diverse multi-cultural environment and offer an additional community language
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
