Job Description

Role Overview

The National Skills Agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Functional Skills Educator and Learning Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our academic program team, you will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality delivery of our defined Academy programs, with a focus on Functional Skills and Learning Support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination
    • Manage allocated Functional Skills programs and 1-2-1 sessions, including scheduling, timetabling, initial assessment, onboarding, and resource provision via the Learning Management System.
  • Teaching and Learning
    • Deliver workshops & 1-2-1 sessions (predominantly online, with occasional face-to-face sessions) that meet our client's Academy's design principles and quality criteria.
  • Progress Monitoring and Support
    • Track assignments, progress milestones, and attendance using data packs, taking swift action if progress is below expectations.
  • Resource Management
    • Ensure all necessary program materials and resources are available and correctly uploaded onto the Learning Management System.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work with the Operations Team and Functional Skills & Quality Coordinator to ensure smooth assessment activities and timely communication of results to learners, line managers, and employers.
  • Additional Learning Needs Support
    • Act as the primary contact for learners requiring Additional Learning Needs Support (ALNS), conducting needs analyses and developing individualised learner progress plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with program leads and stakeholders to integrate support strategies into apprenticeship programs.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for each learner, including timely administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal privacy policies.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Compile and update monthly ALNS reports, attending meetings to review provision quality and identify improvements.
  • Professional Development
    • Stay current with educational advancements to provide relevant support and ensure all delivery meets the Academy, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    • As required, develop and deliver short CPD sessions for program leads, participating in Apprenticeship Best Practice sessions and sharing learner support strategies.
  • Resource Development
    • Build and curate an ALNS resource pack for consistent learner support delivery across the Academy.

Requirements

  • Teaching Qualification
    • Teaching qualification is essential.
  • Functional Skills Experience
    • Experience in the delivery of maths and English Functional Skills.
  • Learning Support Experience
    • Experience in supporting learners with individual learning needs with a range of strategies to suit.
  • Apprenticeship Knowledge
    • Strong knowledge of apprenticeships, including DDT, EPA, and Ofsted requirements (training will be given).
  • Communication and Coaching Skills
    • An engaging and enthusiastic presenter/facilitator with the ability to deliver high-quality training virtually and face to face.
  • Data Interpretation and Problem-Solving
    • Ability to interpret data/feedback to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Coaching and Mentoring
    • Excellent coaching skills to ensure all learners reach their full potential and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Brand Ambassador
    • Able to share success stories and promote the Academy's work (internally and externally) to grow awareness of the Academy brand.
