Job Details

The Umbrella Functional Consulting & Support Team is seeking a highly skilled Policy Support Specialist to join our team in London. As a Policy Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of resettlement policy, working closely with key stakeholders to deliver leasing of SFA for occupation by ARAP Afghans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on policy input to the development of resettlement policy, working closely with the Assistant Head and Deputy Director to deliver policy submissions and briefings to Ministers and senior officials.
  • Support the Parliamentary Secretariat function in preparing written briefing and responses to Parliamentary business on resettlement policy, including accommodation issues.
  • Build strong relationships with key MOD and Whitehall stakeholders, understanding the complexity of the policy space and coherence required.
  • Work with others in DARR to improve knowledge of existing cohorts in the UK, drawing together existing data and developing means to improve the picture.
Requirements
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
  • Policy experience, with a strong understanding of policy development and implementation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build good working relationships.
  • Previous experience in drafting formal correspondence, such as Ministerial correspondence or other responses as part of a secretariat.
  • Previous experience of policy or secretariat work within HMG.
