About Us

Church Road Surgery, a well-established GP training practice, is seeking a part-time medical receptionist/administrator to join our team. We deliver family-centred continuity of care to 5,000 patients and are committed to providing a high level of service to our patients, doctors, nurses, and other members of the Practice team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a flexible and organized individual to work over five days, with the ability to cover in the absence of the team. General practice experience is preferred, but not essential, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

Main Duties

The main duties of the job include:

  • Answering calls and booking appointments
  • Preparing prescriptions and inputting documents
  • Registering new patients and temporary residents
  • Greeting and directing patients and visitors
  • Collecting payments from patients for non-NHS services
  • Dealing with general enquiries and complaints
  • Inputting and extracting information from the Practice computer system
  • Observing health and safety guidelines at all times

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good standard of general education
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of reception work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Time management and the ability to work to deadlines
