Job Summary

Church Road Surgery, a well-established GP training practice in Aston, Birmingham, is seeking a part-time medical receptionist/administrator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be fluent in English, and have a caring and empathetic character.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for answering calls, booking appointments, preparing prescriptions, and inputting documents. They will also need to be a good communicator, have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and be able to work under pressure.

About Us

Church Road Surgery delivers family-centred continuity of care to 5,000 patients and has a team of 3 GPs, a Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, and HCAs, as well as an excellent admin team and additional roles. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Job Responsibilities

The part-time medical receptionist/administrator will be responsible for:

  • Answering calls and booking appointments
  • Preparing prescriptions and inputting documents
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Working under pressure and being flexible to cover absences
  • Participating in general housekeeping and maintaining a tidy reception area

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good standard of general education
  • Experience of working with the general public and in a reception role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT skills and knowledge of EMIS
