Job Summary

A Unit Coordinator is a key professional responsible for providing guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to a group of individuals within a care setting. The primary objective is to achieve a set of aligned results and outcomes that promote the well-being and quality of life for residents.

The Unit Coordinator works closely with the care team to deliver high standards of service, ensuring that residents receive personalized care and support. This involves conducting risk assessments, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with residents, their families, and external agencies to meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide support and encouragement to residents in all aspects of daily living.
  2. Ensure the respect, dignity, and rights to privacy of service users are maintained.
  3. Contribute to the assessment of residents' needs and the development of individualized care plans.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential risks.
  5. Act as a key worker for an identified resident or designated group.
  6. Work with the care team to deliver high standards of service and achieve planned goals.
  7. Undertake supervisory tasks, including coaching and supporting less experienced staff.
  8. Assist with the induction and orientation of new staff members.
  9. Communicate deadlines and goals to team members and promote adherence to company regulations and performance goals.
  10. Develop strategies to promote team member adherence to company regulations and performance goals.
  11. Conduct team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum NVQ level 3 in care or equivalent care qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a care and support setting.
  • Understanding of the needs of service user groups.
  • Specific service-related experience may be required.
  • Medication competence.
