Highway Engineering Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced Highway Engineering Team Leader to join our Highways Services Team at Luton Borough Council.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of an integrated strategy for long-term structural maintenance of highways in Luton, working closely with the Major Projects Manager to provide an integrated approach to project management, contract administration, and delivery of schemes.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will need to have extensive experience in traffic engineering, civil engineering, public lighting, traffic signals engineering, and project management. You will also need to have a Highways Engineering qualification, such as a Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and demonstrable knowledge of legislation, guidelines, and best practice in relation to all aspects of highway maintenance, asset management, drainage, public lighting, traffic signals, and highway structures.
You will be responsible for leading a team and working closely with other departments to deliver projects and schemes, and will need to have excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal tactfully with enquiries and complaints from the public, offer advice, consult, and negotiate with others, both internally and externally to the Council.
