Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Midwife to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a Community Midwife, you will be responsible for providing high-quality antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to women in our community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based care to women during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods in various settings, including homes, maternity hubs, and hospital settings.
  • Bring continuity of care to local families, supporting the vision of Better Births and Saving Babies Lives.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within a team of passionate community midwives to provide care and support to women and their families.
  • Promote collaborative working partnerships and effective communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and developing your own clinical skills, adhering to professional and clinical standards, and observing the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Act as a professional role model for midwifery and support the development of students on their learning journey.
  • Contribute to clinical audit and evaluation of practice within the clinical area, promoting and disseminating research and audit findings.
  • Maintain personal professional profile and revalidation, identifying and negotiating training needs, and actively addressing these through the Trust appraisal system.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife level qualification.
  • Midwifery experience within a variety of maternity clinical areas.
  • Understanding of integrating theory and practice, current midwifery issues, and risk management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to exercise initiative, and basic IT skills.
  • Current driving license and access to a vehicle.
