We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Support Assistant in the Maternity Ward at Northampton General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the Maternity Ward team, including greeting and welcoming patients and their families, answering telephone calls, and liaising with midwives and other staff members.
- Use ward clerks' communication book to identify and prioritize workload for the shift, and maintain an ongoing list of patients on the ward for audit purposes.
- Track and manage patient records, including scanning and filing documents, and using the computer system to admit and discharge patients.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required by the Senior Midwife, including maintaining supplies of stationery and equipment, and reporting maintenance issues to the Estates and Electronics teams.
- Minimum 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English or equivalent.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Word and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a courteous and efficient telephone manner.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
