Position Summary:
The CASS audit division within our Financial Services practice is responsible for overseeing a wide range of prominent entities, including major investment banks, retail banking institutions, and brokerage firms, as well as leading asset management organizations in the UK. Our recent successes in securing new contracts have positioned us for significant growth in the coming years.
The CASS Centre of Excellence plays a pivotal role in delivering CASS assurance reports across our Financial Services audit sector, including our Banking Audit practice. With a strong track record in this field, KPMG is poised to expand further, driven by increasing regulatory demands and the need for external assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising, mentoring, and coaching audit personnel.
- Managing partner engagement on projects and providing necessary progress updates.
- Serving as the primary contact for audited entities throughout the year; managing schedules, anticipating costs, invoicing, and coordinating payment timelines.
- Regularly engaging with senior stakeholders on pertinent industry topics.
- Building and maintaining robust internal and external networks within the sector.
- Communicating with audited entities and subject matter experts on technical issues related to Financial Services audits and CASS.
- Leading the planning and execution of audits, including interim and final fieldwork and completion tasks.
- Participating in tender processes and collaborating with the independence team.
- Contributing to the management group of the Banking Audit department and driving strategic initiatives.
- Acting as the performance manager.
- Significant recent experience in CASS auditing at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
- In-depth knowledge of the Financial Services sector and a proven ability to build strategic partnerships and influence senior management.
- Strong drive and resilience to perform effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including sound judgment and escalation skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of CASS regulations 6, 7, 8, and 10.
- Solid understanding of the Financial Services landscape, including governance frameworks and operational infrastructures.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Degree-level education or equivalent.
- Professional qualifications are preferred but not mandatory, with a solid grasp of regulatory frameworks and their practical application in the investment management sector.
- Capability to assess technical issues, analyze data, consult effectively, and deliver high-quality audits.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with audited entities and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, can-do attitude suited to a high-challenge, high-support culture.
- Awareness of regulatory developments and current challenges faced by audited entities.
- Experience working collaboratively in teams and independently.
- Extensive background in the CASS sector.
