Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust

Locum Consultant Physician in Acute or General Medicine with Specialty Interest Options

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a full or part-time Consultant Physician in Acute and General Medicine for a 12-month fixed-term position.

Join a welcoming and expanding team of Consultant Physicians with diverse backgrounds in Internal Medicine. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work exclusively in Acute Medicine or in a balanced role with another medical specialty. While a specialty interest is not mandatory, this position is well-suited for acute medicine practitioners.

An exciting opportunity is available as a substantive post will be advertised soon, allowing you to join a team that has significantly expanded in the past year. The ongoing growth supports the development of innovative working models and services that cater to patients both in the hospital and the surrounding community. The service includes a Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service operating Monday to Friday and an 18-bedded Acute Medical ward. The medical records system is fully electronic, featuring dashboards that facilitate the coordination of the multidisciplinary team, with the Acute Medicine ward team convening three times daily.

Key Responsibilities

This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing team and to innovate in service delivery for all patients accessing the hospital, while also being connected through Barts Trust to various specialties.

Candidates must possess full registration with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice.
