Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine to join our dynamic team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Acute Medicine department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultant-led care for patients with acute medical conditions, including those requiring admission to our Acute Medical Units.
- Lead a team of healthcare professionals, including junior doctors, nurses, and other support staff, to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Contribute to the development of our Acute Medicine services, including the expansion of ambulatory assessment and management of patients.
- Participate in the on-call medical take rota and provide cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.
- Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff and contribute to the teaching and training of junior doctors.
Requirements:
- Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Applicants must be within 6 months of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or have fully completed their Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) application and be fully registered on the GMC General Medicine/Acute Medicine Specialist Register.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Acute Medical experience in a busy teaching hospital.
- Experience in day-to-day organisation of General Medicine on wards services.
- Familiarity with current structure of the UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Management course and/or qualification.
