Position Overview

Essex is home to a rich tapestry of cultural organizations, including numerous Arts Council England (ACE) National Portfolio Organisations and Creative People and Places initiatives. The region presents a unique opportunity to leverage its cultural assets to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. This role is pivotal in advancing the objectives outlined in the Cultural Strategy and related initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement and creative expression.

The Cultural Engagement Coordinator will play a crucial role in the formulation and execution of cultural initiatives, ensuring broader access to artistic and cultural experiences. This position contributes to overarching goals related to health, education, community development, environmental sustainability, and economic growth. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in the creative, cultural, or heritage sectors, along with a proven track record in project management and partnership development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in achieving the strategic objectives of the organization, enhancing the cultural identity of Essex while prioritizing community involvement in all initiatives.
  • Foster collaborative partnerships across various sectors to facilitate the successful execution of projects and programs.
  • Develop and manage promotional materials and campaigns to support advocacy efforts.
  • Engage with local authorities and community organizations to promote best practices and improve service delivery.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that introduce innovative business models and optimize funding opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze data related to economic, social, and equality impacts, including academic research.
  • Stay informed about new developments and funding opportunities within the cultural sector, aligning with broader social and economic goals.
  • Support the management of grant programs, including evaluation and monitoring processes.
  • Represent the organization at regional and national forums, contributing to discussions on arts, heritage, and cultural matters.
  • Provide expert guidance on arts, heritage, and cultural issues to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant cultural discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and expertise in the field.
  • Extensive experience in the creative, cultural, or heritage sectors, with a solid understanding of current initiatives and challenges.
  • Proficient in project management with a history of successful financial oversight.
  • Experience in the arts, heritage, or museum sectors is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster collaborative and influential partnerships.

Additional Information

This role requires mobility across the operational area, necessitating a valid driving license and access to a vehicle or alternative means of transportation.
