Salary: Up to £55,000 (negotiable based on experience)

Base Materials Ltd is a prominent player in the chemical engineering sector, operating across two locations. Our primary focus is on the production of high-quality materials used in styling, modeling, and tooling, catering to various industries such as automotive, aerospace, motorsport, and marine.

As part of our strategic growth initiative, we are looking to enhance our internal capabilities with a newly defined UK Sales Manager position. Our organization is on a trajectory of consistent growth, necessitating a leader to guide our Business Development team and provide motivational, targeted leadership to capitalize on available opportunities. The selected candidate will oversee the daily sales operations, monitor performance against established targets, and support the strategic objectives while continuously refining the structure, systems, quality, culture, values, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the sales team with a focus on achieving targets.
  • Establish and meet ambitious annual goals for the team.
  • Ensure the team has access to necessary resources for success (e.g., pricing information, performance reports, data sheets, CRM access).
  • Develop clear action plans for each team member on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Enhance productivity by assessing and implementing efficient sales processes.
  • Monitor sales activities closely and initiate improvements proactively to align actual performance with planned objectives.
  • Optimize the current CRM system (Salesforce) for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and deliver regular sales performance reports, ensuring relevant data is communicated effectively.
  • Oversee cross-selling and up-selling strategies within the existing customer base.
  • Coach, support, and inspire the sales team to achieve their targets and objectives.
  • Provide market insights to the Company Directors regarding competitive offerings and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement the Sales Strategy, working closely with other departments.
  • Identify and propose ambitious growth strategies across all service offerings and explore new market sectors.
  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Manage key accounts effectively.
  • Meet KPIs related to team management, customer retention, and acquisition.
  • Develop the sales team through objective setting, planning, and meaningful performance reviews.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal sales training or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a sales leadership role.
  • Proven success in increasing company revenue through effective sales strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to penetrate new markets and build strong relationships.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and a quick learner.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with adherence to internal processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Methodical and detail-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with Sage 50 and Salesforce CRM.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management certification.
  • Experience in international or export sales.
  • Familiarity with composite materials.
