Job Overview

The Procurement Manager position at Colt Technology Services is a pivotal role responsible for spearheading procurement initiatives across various functional teams, with a primary emphasis on the IT category while also overseeing Security, Marketing, and HR categories within the European Region. This role necessitates collaboration with team members and stakeholders across multiple regions, including India and Japan.


The Procurement Manager will engage with internal stakeholders to ensure their business needs are clearly understood and effectively articulated. They will collaborate with these stakeholders to establish a pipeline of tendered products and services, ensuring that procurement processes are executed efficiently and securely, backed by comprehensive contract documentation. The contracts will reflect competitive pricing while managing and mitigating commercial, operational, and reputational risks associated with the procurement activities.

The scope of this role encompasses the entire procurement life-cycle, from developing strategic plans and supplier profiling to executing sourcing and acquisition programs, tendering, contracting, negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement, the Procurement Manager will be tasked with the tactical management and creation of effective procurement documentation that adheres to the company's Procurement Policy. They will also contribute to the development of cost plans, identify cost reduction opportunities, and explore alternative supplier strategies as part of their analysis of supply requirements.

The successful candidate will be an effective team player, capable of working collaboratively with and influencing demanding stakeholders while leading colleagues in a dynamic and evolving business environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with functional stakeholders to identify genuine business needs, develop procurement strategies, and identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Drive the transition of the Procurement function towards a more strategic focus, implementing best practices and effective tracking and reporting mechanisms.
  • Formulate effective commercial strategies for tendering, including drafting appropriate documentation and leading the tendering process to secure value for money while managing risk.
  • Conduct thorough and effective negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal operating costs and benefits for the organization, in line with Colt's Procurement Policy.
  • Assist stakeholders in adopting a Total Cost of Ownership perspective on procurement activities, demonstrating the advantages of effective procurement.
  • Provide expert procurement guidance and support to colleagues within Colt Technology Services.
  • Manage the sourcing process from need identification (supporting stakeholders in defining specifications) through supplier selection to contract finalization, in collaboration with relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Evaluate potential bidders through RFI/RFQ processes, ensuring sustainable procurement and commercial best practices are integrated into the tendering and supplier selection processes.
  • Oversee and manage RFx activities within the organization using SAP/Ariba.
  • Promote procurement governance and best practice policies for effective management of both operating and capital expenditures.
  • Review and approve Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) in Ariba.
  • Adapt to ambiguity and a fast-paced work environment, quickly defining procurement requirements with key stakeholders.
  • Implement and manage a Supplier Relationship Management program, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and other contractual obligations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated operational experience in procurement, with a comprehensive understanding of the full procurement life cycle, from market research and sourcing to tender preparation, contract negotiation, and compliance through Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Preferably possesses knowledge of the data center or telecommunications industry sectors.
  • Proven track record in strategic procurement, with the ability to effectively build and execute robust operational plans.
  • Practical experience in creating and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Ability to manage project workloads through practical planning and effective management of cost reductions.
  • Experience in managing fluctuating workloads and balancing conflicting priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, influencing and motivating complex, matrix teams both virtually and directly.
  • Experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both internally and externally with suppliers.
  • Able to foster a win-win environment with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks and the ability to leverage them effectively.
  • Experience in leading and delivering procurement strategies through virtual multifunctional teams.

Education
