The Procurement Manager will engage with internal stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding and articulation of their business needs. This role will facilitate the delivery of a structured pipeline of tendered products and services, ensuring that procurement processes are executed efficiently and securely, backed by robust contractual agreements. These contracts will feature negotiated pricing that reflects a competitive landscape while managing and mitigating commercial, operational, and reputational risks for the organization.

This position encompasses the entire procurement life-cycle, from developing strategic plans and supplier profiling to executing sourcing and acquisition initiatives, tendering, contracting, negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for the tactical management and creation of effective procurement documentation that adheres to company policies. Additionally, this role will assist in formulating cost plans, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and exploring alternative supplier strategies as part of a thorough analysis of supply requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with functional stakeholders to pinpoint legitimate business needs, formulate procurement strategies, and identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Drive the DCS Procurement function towards a more strategic approach, developing best practices and effective tracking and reporting mechanisms.
  • Create and implement effective commercial strategies for tendering, including drafting appropriate documentation and leading tender processes with suppliers to secure value for money while managing associated risks.
  • Conduct detailed and effective negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal operating costs and benefits for the organization, in line with company procurement policies.
  • Guide stakeholders in adopting a Total Cost of Ownership perspective on procurement activities, demonstrating the advantages of effective procurement.
  • Provide expert procurement advice and support to colleagues within the organization.
  • Ensure the sourcing process is managed collaboratively with relevant stakeholders, from need identification through to contract finalization.
  • Assess potential bidders through RFI/RFQ processes, working with colleagues across all business functions to integrate sustainable procurement and commercial best practices into the tendering and supplier selection processes.
  • Manage RFx activities using SAP/Ariba.
  • Promote procurement governance and best practice policies for effective management of both operating and capital expenditures.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions and orders in Ariba.
  • Navigate ambiguity and fast-paced environments, swiftly defining procurement requirements with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee a Supplier Relationship Management program, including Quarterly Business Reviews and other contractual obligations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven operational experience in procurement, with a comprehensive understanding of the full procurement life cycle.
  • Familiarity with the data center or telecommunications industry sectors is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic procurement, with the ability to build and execute robust operational plans.
  • Practical experience in creating and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Capable of managing project workloads through practical planning and effective cost management.
  • Experience in managing fluctuating workloads and balancing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, influencing and motivating complex, matrixed teams.
  • Proven track record of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both internally and externally with suppliers.
  • Ability to foster a win-win environment with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Supplier Relationship Management frameworks and the ability to leverage them effectively.
  • Experience in leading and delivering procurement strategies through virtual multifunctional teams.

Educational Background:

A bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management, or a related field is required.
