Position Overview
The Procurement Manager at Colt Technology Services is a pivotal role responsible for orchestrating procurement initiatives across various functional teams, with a primary emphasis on the IT category, while also overseeing Security, Marketing, and HR categories within the European Region. This position entails collaboration with team members and stakeholders across multiple regions, ensuring a cohesive approach to procurement.
The Procurement Manager will engage with internal stakeholders to thoroughly understand and define their business needs. This role is integral in delivering a streamlined pipeline of tendered products and services, ensuring that procurement processes are executed efficiently and securely, backed by comprehensive contract documentation. The contracts negotiated will reflect competitive pricing and effectively manage commercial, operational, and reputational risks associated with the business.
This position encompasses the entire procurement life-cycle, from developing strategic plans and supplier profiles to executing sourcing and acquisition programs, tendering, contracting, negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management.
Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement, the role involves tactical management and the creation of effective procurement documentation that aligns with the company's Procurement Policy. The Procurement Manager will also contribute to the development of cost plans, identify cost reduction opportunities, and explore alternative supplier strategies as part of their analysis of supply requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with functional stakeholders to pinpoint legitimate business needs, formulate procurement strategies, and identify cost-effective solutions.
- Propel the DCS Procurement function towards a more strategic framework, fostering best practices and effective tracking and reporting mechanisms.
- Design and implement effective commercial strategies for tendering, including drafting appropriate documentation and leading tender processes to secure value for money while managing associated risks.
- Conduct thorough and effective negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal operating costs and benefits for the organization, in compliance with procurement policies.
- Assist stakeholders in adopting a Total Cost of Ownership perspective regarding procurement activities, demonstrating the advantages of effective procurement.
- Provide expert procurement guidance and support to colleagues within Colt DCS.
- Oversee the sourcing process from need identification through to supplier selection and contract finalization, in collaboration with relevant stakeholder groups.
- Evaluate potential bidders through RFI/RFQ processes, ensuring sustainable procurement and commercial best practices are integrated into tendering and supplier selection.
- Manage RFx activities within DCS using SAP/Ariba.
- Promote procurement governance and best practice policies for effective management of operating and capital expenditures.
- Review and approve Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) in Ariba.
- Navigate ambiguity and fast-paced environments, quickly defining procurement requirements with key stakeholders.
- Implement a Supplier Relationship Management program, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and adherence to contractual obligations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive operational experience in procurement, with a deep understanding of the full procurement life cycle, from market analysis and sourcing to contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
- Ideally, possess knowledge of the data center or telecommunications sectors.
- Proven track record in strategic procurement, capable of building and executing robust operational plans.
- Practical experience in creating and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Ability to manage project workloads effectively, creating actionable plans and achieving cost reductions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload fluctuations and balance conflicting priorities.
- Experience working in team environments, with the capacity to influence and motivate complex, matrixed teams.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both internally and externally with suppliers.
- Ability to foster a win-win environment with suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Supplier Relationship Management frameworks and the ability to leverage them effectively.
- Experience leading and delivering procurement strategies through virtual multifunctional teams.
