Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled pharmacist to lead our Rheumatology and Bone Health services. The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice, with a focus on rheumatology and bone health. They will be responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical support and advice to our multidisciplinary teams, as well as leading the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of clinical pharmacy services to the Rheumatology and Bone Health department, including the development and implementation of new services and initiatives.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical support and advice to our multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our clinical teams, including rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, and other specialists.
  • Lead and participate in clinical research, audit, and quality improvement projects within Rheumatology and Bone Health.
  • Monitor and analyze drug expenditure, identifying trends and making recommendations for cost savings.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
  • Collaborate with our pharmacy team to ensure the smooth delivery of clinical pharmacy services.
  • Participate in education and training programs to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Vocational master's degree in pharmacy (or BPharm equivalent)
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent from a recognized UK provider (min 2 years)
  • Independent prescribing qualification
  • Extensive post-registration hospital pharmacy practice experience
  • Demonstrable experience of successful project management
  • Experience of planning, delivering, and reporting audit and research projects
  • Wide experience of ward-based clinical pharmacy
  • Commitment and evidence of formal continuous professional development
  • Experience of service development and staff management
  • Able to supervise and provide clinical leadership to Pharmacy staff
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 5 years post-registration hospital pharmacy practice experience
  • An understanding of clinical trial processes
  • Experience of managing clinical trials
  • Experience of working within a rheumatology department
  • Experience of working in a clinical area using biological therapies to treat inflammatory conditions rheumatology, dermatology, or gastroenterology
