Position Overview
Are you ready to elevate your nursing career? We invite you to consider a rewarding opportunity within our Rheumatology Team. We are in search of a dedicated and proactive nurse who will seamlessly integrate into our well-established team of specialist nurses, delivering exceptional care to patients with diverse Rheumatological conditions.
This role is classified under Pay Band 6, adhering to NHS Terms and Conditions of Service, with Annex 21 provisions applicable until the successful completion of an 18-month developmental period.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this position is to deliver a comprehensive rheumatology service, which includes:
- Conducting independent patient clinics in collaboration with consultants.
- Providing guidance and support to colleagues, patients, and caregivers.
- Engaging in the management of a specialist nurse-led telephone advice line for patients.
Main Duties
1. Deliver specialized nursing services for individuals with rheumatology conditions.
2. Contribute to the development of specialized nursing assessments, evidence-based interventions, and support for clients with rheumatology conditions.
3. Participate in nurse clinics, working in conjunction with consultant clinics, managing follow-up patients according to established protocols.
4. Assess patients with rheumatoid/inflammatory arthritis using appropriate scoring systems to evaluate treatment suitability.
5. Complete funding applications for treatments in alignment with commissioning guidelines.
6. Collaborate with nursing staff to provide comprehensive patient management.
7. Serve as a resource for patients and professionals, offering advice and information through a dedicated telephone advice line.
8. Facilitate educational initiatives related to rheumatology for colleagues, patients, and their families.
9. Uphold best practices in accordance with relevant quality care standards and guidelines.
10. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, attending regular meetings to enhance service delivery.
11. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with professional standards.
12. Participate in clinical audits and service improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple clinics weekly and provide essential support and guidance to patients and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- First-level registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated post-graduate nursing experience.
- Clinical experience with adults suffering from rheumatology conditions.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate training in rheumatology or related fields.
- Experience in outpatient settings.
