Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Rheumatology team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.
Main Responsibilities- Provide supportive care to patients with rheumatological diseases, working closely with the Rheumatology Nurse Specialist team.
- Conduct basic clinical skills and provide support in drug monitoring, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Respond to adverse drug events and abnormal blood results, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive patient monitoring, recognizing changes in condition and escalating as necessary.
- Support the clinical nurse specialists in providing open access to patients through the Rheumatology helpline and emails.
- Provide advice and support to patients and their families regarding care and management of inflammatory joint disease.
- Participate in health promotion and prevention of ill health, encouraging patients to adopt healthy lifestyles and self-care strategies.
- Participate in consultant and nurse-led clinics as required.
- Comply with and fulfill the objectives of the rheumatology service, taking initiative to develop and maintain effective communication networks with other health professionals.
- Adhere to NMC Guidelines and standards for Professional Practice, maintaining professional competencies and attending mandatory training.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to meet changing service demands.
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates a professional approach to role.
- Able to fulfill travel requirements of the role.
- Registered adult nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Cannulation and venepuncture or willing to work towards.
- Mentorship qualification or similar.
- Experience of working within both medical and surgical environments.
- Rheumatology education/experience.
