Rheumatology Nurse Specialist Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Rheumatology Nurse Specialist to join our team at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. The successful candidate will provide supportive care to patients with rheumatological diseases, working closely with the Rheumatology Nurse Specialist team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care to patients with rheumatological diseases, including administering medications and monitoring patient safety.
  • Support the clinical nurse specialists in providing open access to patients through the Rheumatology helpline and e-mails.
  • Provide advice and support to patients and their families regarding the care and management of patients with inflammatory joint disease.
  • Participate in health promotion and the prevention of ill health, supporting patients to adopt healthy lifestyles.
  • Record information about patients in a safe, accurate, and consistent manner, including computerized patient records.
  • Comply with and fulfill the objectives of the rheumatology service, participating in audits and research to improve practice.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a strong background in rheumatology or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Knowledge of NMC Guidelines and standards for Professional Practice, with a commitment to maintaining professional competencies.
