Role Overview:

We are in search of a qualified and passionate SENCO who possesses the expertise in delivering exceptional educational experiences for children with SEND, particularly those who are non-verbal autistic and have significant needs. The successful candidate will take charge of our SEND initiatives and lead a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enhance the SEND framework throughout the educational institution.
  • Design and execute personalized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the individual needs of students.
  • Engage collaboratively with educators, families, and external specialists to provide holistic support for students with SEND.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of SEND LSAs, offering guidance, training, and professional development.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.
  • Evaluate and track student progress, modifying strategies as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to SEND regulations and institutional policies.
  • Deliver training and resources to staff on best practices in SEND and inclusive education.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for families regarding SEND matters and support.

Requirements:

  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) along with relevant SENCO qualifications or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and supporting students with SEND, particularly those who are non-verbal autistic.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and management experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A deep commitment to inclusive education, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive outlook.
