Role Overview:
We are in search of a qualified and passionate SENCO who possesses a wealth of experience in delivering exceptional educational support to children with SEND, particularly those who are non-verbal autistic and have significant needs. The ideal candidate will take charge of our SEND initiatives and lead a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the SEND services throughout the educational institution.
- Design and execute personalized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the specific needs of each student.
- Work collaboratively with educators, families, and external specialists to provide holistic support for students with SEND.
- Supervise and mentor a team of SEND LSAs, offering training and professional development opportunities.
- Encourage a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.
- Evaluate and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to strategies.
- Ensure adherence to SEND regulations and institutional policies.
- Provide training and resources to staff on best practices for inclusive education.
- Serve as the primary liaison for parents and guardians regarding SEND matters and support.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with relevant SENCO qualifications or substantial experience.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and supporting students with SEND, particularly those who are non-verbal autistic.
- Strong leadership capabilities and management experience.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A dedication to inclusive education and the ability to motivate both students and staff.
- Patience, creativity, and a positive outlook.
