Editorial Planning Specialist, News UK

News UK is seeking a skilled editorial planning specialist to enhance our news operations.

Candidates should possess a background in national journalism or digital media. You will be expected to have exceptional commissioning and editing abilities, along with a talent for generating compelling story concepts and in-depth investigations.

The ideal applicant will showcase their capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. A deep passion for news and the insight to identify stories that may go unnoticed are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the development of significant stories, exclusive content, and investigative pieces to deliver outstanding coverage across digital and print platforms. Direct the forward planning and collaboration with the news teams at News UK. Collaborate with journalists, writers, and audience specialists to cultivate innovative story ideas. Effectively manage relationships with editors, deputy editors, and other section leaders across the organization. Participate actively in daily editorial meetings.

Required Skills and Experience

Proven experience in a national news organization or digital content provider. Strong interest in news and current events. A meticulous approach to strategic planning combined with excellent organizational capabilities. Ability to work effectively under pressure, adhering to strict deadlines while ensuring precision. Understanding of how audience insights inform content creation and strategies for promoting stories through social media and search engines. Excellent communication skills, both succinct and impactful. Proficient in utilizing social media platforms to engage existing and potential audiences for News UK. Experience in collaborative work with diverse teams. Strong presentation skills, with well-developed interpersonal abilities and problem-solving capabilities. Comprehensive knowledge of editorial standards and regulatory considerations.
