Position: Technical Claims Specialist

Location: Greater Manchester (commutable area)

Work Schedule: Full-time - hybrid model (2 days in office weekly)

Overview:

In the capacity of Technical Claims Specialist, you will oversee the management of intricate and specialized claims across a variety of insurance sectors, with a primary focus on Construction, Engineering, and Cyber Insurance. Your role will involve delivering exceptional customer service to HSB's clientele and collaborating effectively with both internal and external partners. You will ensure that claims are processed efficiently, skillfully, and in accordance with HSB's established service level agreements.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage claims from First Notice of Loss (FNOL) through to resolution, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate complex and technical claims within HSB's product range.
  • Engage in legal proceedings, mediation, and other legal matters as necessary.
  • Assist the Claims Leadership Team in fostering a high-performance culture within the claims department.
  • Investigate claims, determine liability, negotiate settlements, and identify potential recovery and fraud opportunities, adhering to departmental standards and authority limits.
  • Provide support to claims handling team members with referrals.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with internal stakeholders, client companies, brokers, intermediaries, direct insured parties, and third parties, ensuring excellence throughout the claims process.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and governance throughout the claims handling process.
  • Oversee the appropriate engagement of third-party service providers such as Loss Adjusters and Solicitors.
  • Provide technical knowledge to enhance our standing as leading experts in the Construction and Engineering sectors.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK insurance landscape.
  • Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines and manage high workloads.
  • Previous experience in the Engineering and Construction sectors (preferred).
  • Background in litigation or legal matters (preferred).
  • Essential experience in claims handling.
  • Proficient in Customer Relationship Management.

Qualifications:

  • Progressing towards CII qualifications.
  • CIP qualification (preferred).
