About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Technical Claims to join our team at Benefact Group plc. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the technical development of our claims teams, driving business growth, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality claims handling standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership - Provide inspiring technical leadership to our claims teams, directly leading the Technical Claims Specialists, and taking responsibility for their motivation, development, and performance.
  • Relationships - Identify and pursue opportunities to develop customer relationships, working with our Underwriting team to develop, implement, and monitor customer plans, including revenue generation targets and marketing initiatives.
  • Claims Handling - Responsible for delivering technical claims handling standards and strategy across the Department, including case reserving policy.
  • Technical Referral Point - Provide advice and direction across all claims, obtaining or directing external advice where necessary.
  • Research & Development - Actively participate and contribute to market forums, researching and delivering new procedures and techniques for handling claims.
  • Training & Development - Provide overall leadership for the technical development of Casualty claims staff, monitoring technical competency, and ensuring the need for technical succession is fulfilled.
  • Financial Authority - Set the strategy for and monitor all financial authorities within the claims teams to ensure the right people are handling claims at the right level.
  • Fraud - Design, develop, and implement our fraud claims handling strategy, ensuring we continually improve our capability and meet our agreed targets.
  • Claims as a Financial Portfolio - Responsibility for claims portfolio management, working closely with the performance analyst and actuaries for the purposes of claims planning, and identifying leading and lagging indicators for action and communication to a wider internal audience.
  • Reinsurance - Develop close relationships with our reinsurance team and reinsurers, providing insight and confidence in our claims operation.
  • Suppliers - Drive strong relationships across the supply chain, ensuring regular and timely feedback on performance, and working with the Claims Supply Chain manager to maximize the value and output from these relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • ACII / FCII Qualified with significant claims experience.
  • A proven track record of developing claims strategies in Casualty with a history of delivering measurable value.
  • A detailed knowledge of abuse claim handling techniques, leading our team of abuse claim handlers, ensuring adherence to our guiding principles, and providing thought leadership in this area to internal stakeholders.
