Octavius Infrastructure is a prominent civil engineering firm dedicated to providing safe, sustainable, and efficient transportation solutions throughout the UK.

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Cost Estimator to join our dynamic team, focusing on the commercial oversight of various initiatives within the Wales & Western Stations and Buildings Work Contract for Control Period 7 (CP7). This framework involves the maintenance and renewal of structures such as canopies, buildings, depots, platform infrastructures, parking areas, and pedestrian subways. You will be responsible for the financial and contractual performance of these initiatives, ensuring successful outcomes that align with contractual obligations and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project financial performance, ensuring that profit objectives and efficiency targets are met.
  • Oversee change control procedures and ensure adherence to contractual timelines.
  • Effectively identify and manage potential risks and opportunities.
  • Facilitate compliant procurement processes and oversee the supply chain.
  • Address commercial inquiries and provide guidance on legal matters, including dispute resolution.
  • Conduct internal and external audits as necessary.
  • Supervise subcontract management, including the preparation and negotiation of claims and payments.
  • Monitor project progress, perform site inspections, and maintain financial records and forecasts.
  • Prepare for and participate in monthly cost review meetings, identifying variations and necessary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Octavius' and clients' assurance processes and legal requirements.
  • Mentor and manage team members as needed.
  • Foster strong relationships with project teams, clients, and suppliers, promoting a culture of professionalism and collaboration.

Qualifications:
  • Proven success in a Lead Cost Estimator role, managing multiple large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and leading teams.
  • Background in a civil engineering context.
  • Familiarity with NEC Contract frameworks.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accreditation with RICS or CICES is desirable.
