Position Summary:

We are embarking on an exciting journey to establish our new Freight Division at London Heathrow, and we are seeking a skilled Air Freight Import Specialist to lay the groundwork for our ambitious growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in air import and/or export operations.
  • Prepare and submit customs clearance entries for imports and exports.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service excellence, maintaining a professional demeanor in all communications.
  • Possess Air Dangerous Goods (DG) training; training will be provided if not already certified.
  • Execute operational tasks in alignment with DP World’s global freight forwarding protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations.
  • Support account initiation by collaborating with sales to gather necessary documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conduct weekly audits of files to ensure compliance with estimates, profit margins, and timely invoicing.
  • Assist clients with daily inquiries regarding export/import documentation to ensure smooth execution of transportation files.
  • Address and resolve shipment irregularities as they arise.
  • Provide clients with comprehensive flight details to ensure effective information flow.
  • Collaborate with airlines to secure optimal solutions in terms of capacity and cost for transportation execution.
  • Prepare and deliver customer quotations promptly.
  • Engage with DP World’s internal network and external partner agents to guarantee superior service delivery.
  • Respond swiftly to any emergency situations that may occur during air freight operations.
  • Work collaboratively with operations colleagues to provide support during peak workload periods.
  • Maintain customer reporting as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in air freight forwarding operations and customer service.
  • Mandatory experience in freight forwarding.

Skills:

  • Solid understanding of the freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong execution skills, ensuring accurate and timely completion of initiatives.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with clients, carriers, and vendors.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.

Employment Requirements:

  • Ability to provide a comprehensive five-year employment history and satisfactory references.
  • Subject to a DBS check.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment, adhering to aviation legislation.
