Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the most extensive healthcare systems in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 individuals across a diverse array of clinical and non-clinical roles. Our organization is dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support, to a population exceeding 1.15 million, with a broader reach of 2.2 million through our regional and national services.

In alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative to reduce the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, this position reflects the new working hours while maintaining unchanged remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. It is important to note that certain service areas may not immediately implement the reduced working week, and temporary adjustments may be required, for which compensation will be provided until the service adapts its scheduling.

The work schedule for this role is Monday to Friday, with salary calculated on a pro-rata basis for part-time hours.

This role presents a unique opportunity to become a vital member of the paediatric neurology team at the Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow. The successful candidate will provide essential support to children, both as outpatients and inpatients, under the guidance of the broader neurology team. The focus will be on delivering seamless care for children and young individuals diagnosed with epilepsy, while also supporting the paediatric Genetic Epilepsy Service.

The responsibilities of the post holder will include:

  • Contributing to the medical, educational, and social management of children with epilepsy and genetic epilepsy.
  • Providing support and conducting formal training sessions for caregivers and staff from educational and respite facilities.
  • Participating in the West of Scotland Nurse Run Vagal Nerve Stimulation service, adjusting devices based on patient response, in accordance with nationally established guidelines.
  • Developing tailored seizure management plans for children and young individuals, ensuring effective management in various settings, including schools and emergency services.
