We invite applications from Registered Clinical Scientists specializing in genetics for a permanent position within our Genetics Service. Our laboratory is fully accredited and offers both regional and national genetic services. Candidates should possess substantial experience in human genetics, particularly in diagnosing common genetic disorders. The successful candidate will face the challenges of delivering complex routine testing while also engaging in service development initiatives.

Our department promotes continuous learning through regular seminars, and we offer training in management skills when appropriate. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and benefits from a robust research background, along with strong collaborations with various research entities.

Key Responsibilities of the Registered Clinical Scientist:

  • Function as a career-grade scientist within a regional and national specialist Genetics Service.
  • Conduct analysis, interpretation, and reporting of genetic tests, with the authority to approve a subset of these results.
  • Implement quality standards and quality control measures in accordance with current guidelines and legislation.
  • Provide a comprehensive range of molecular genetics and cytogenetic testing for inherited and certain acquired disorders, adhering to established policies and procedures while advising clinicians and healthcare professionals on the appropriateness of testing and the interpretation of results.

Additionally, the role involves participating in service development initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Service, along with managing various administrative responsibilities within the laboratory.
