This commitment aligns with the new legal obligation for NHS England to prioritize the respect and promotion of patient privacy, adhering to the core principles that establish NHS England as a secure custodian of patient data.
Role Overview
The position of Lead Information Governance Specialist involves providing advanced professional expertise and guidance to support the objectives of the PTT Sub-directorate, as well as mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing essential Information Governance documentation tailored to diverse audiences.
- Effectively communicating with non-specialist colleagues to raise awareness of Information Governance matters throughout the organization.
- Conducting research related to Information Governance, including legal inquiries.
- Providing support and advice regarding the use of personal data, including risk assessments, mitigations, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Responding to statutory requests for access to personal data and other rights under applicable data protection legislation.
- Advising on the application of the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
- Collaborating across teams and organizational boundaries to achieve optimal outcomes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional service delivery.
- Guiding the sharing of personal data with external organizations, including the necessary documentation for such sharing, and advising on data processing and sharing agreements.
- Identifying compliance and operational risks related to Information Governance, providing advice on mitigations, and escalating issues as necessary.
- Generating reports and key performance indicators to assess the organization's adherence to Information Governance standards.
