Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Clinical Procurement team. This role requires professional registration to leverage your expertise, knowledge, and skills in collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals.

The successful candidate will integrate into the Procurement and Supplies unit, providing guidance on clinically relevant consumables. This position involves close collaboration with specialized groups within the healthcare facilities and engagement with the commercial sector, including suppliers and their representatives. The primary objective is to recommend and implement clinical products that enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with procedural changes.

This role is ideal for an analytical thinker, a proactive inquirer, a multitasker, and a skilled communicator. Professional registration is essential.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for overseeing a substantial non-pay expenditure, ensuring strategies for product and supplier standardization, delivering value for money, and enhancing services across procurement categories.

Reporting to the Clinical Procurement Advisor, you will act as a crucial link between clinicians and procurement teams.

Your role will involve enabling informed decision-making regarding clinical products, developing and implementing interdepartmental cost control initiatives, and creating sustainable solutions.

You will manage the relationship between clinical and procurement functions, driving innovation in procurement practices and ensuring contract compliance to reduce costs and enhance patient care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Procurement Advisor to facilitate effective communication between clinicians and procurement teams, enabling informed decision-making regarding clinical products.
  • Manage the interface between clinical and procurement operations, fostering innovative practices and ensuring compliance to enhance patient care.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to the procurement team, ensuring adherence to standardized product usage and optimizing catalog offerings.
  • Work closely with suppliers and product evaluation groups to assess and modify products in alignment with the Trust's sustainability and cost improvement objectives.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in using a laptop, analyzing data, and utilizing Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites and outside standard office hours when necessary.

  • Possession of a valid driving license.

Experience

  • Background knowledge of clinical care across various specialties.
  • Familiarity with UHL sites and specialties.
  • Understanding of the NHS Supply Chain catalogue and local purchasing processes.
  • Ability to articulate the role of procurement effectively.
  • Experience in project management and evaluation.
  • Understanding of the importance of critically evaluating suppliers.
  • Previous experience in managing staff.
