Key Responsibilities
BILLESON SURGERY
CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST
To deliver and uphold a superior standard of nursing care for patients, while also providing nursing support to physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Responsibilities will encompass all tasks typically performed by a seasoned Registered General Nurse (RGN) and any additional roles agreed upon with the physicians, considering current training.
Core Duties
- Manage chronic health conditions within the practice population, ensuring adherence to local and national guidelines and meeting quality targets.
- Provide comprehensive travel health advice, including vaccinations and medications, as well as guidance on safe practices.
- Administer childhood and adult vaccinations, ensuring compliance with patient group directives.
- Assess and address minor health issues presented by patients.
- Document consultations in accordance with NMC guidelines.
- Maintain awareness of statutory and local clinical protection protocols, including referral systems and recognizing signs of abuse.
- Conduct holistic assessments for patients requiring ear irrigation and cervical cytology smear tests.
- Perform venepuncture following local protocols.
- Implement evidence-based wound management practices.
- Carry out suture removals and ECGs.
- Recognize and manage anaphylaxis in line with current UK guidelines.
- Provide assistance in minor surgical procedures.
- Obtain and document informed consent appropriately.
- Serve as an Infection Control Lead or Link, ensuring adherence to infection control standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of medical supplies and equipment, including refrigeration and emergency tools.
- Uphold confidentiality of all information acquired during employment.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with Practice Nurse experience.
- Current NMC Registration and Hepatitis B vaccination or willingness to be vaccinated.
- A recognized Nursing Degree.
Desirable Attributes
- Interest in Long-Term Condition Management.
- Experience in General Practice Nursing.
